SANDRA RIOS-AYALA

Undergraduate Student

Sandra is an undergraduate student in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Portland State University. She is currently a NIH BUILD EXITO scholar which introduced her to research in a nano-medicine research lab at the OSU/OHSU College of Pharmacy. Sandra developed an interest in the anatomy and physiology of speech and is interested in medical speech-language pathology for graduate school. 

JILLIAN RIVER BROWY, BA

Post-Baccalaureate Student

Jillian graduated from University of California Santa Cruz in 2011 with a BA in Anthropology and minors in Linguistics and Education. They joined the Speech, Swallowing, and Respiration Lab Summer of 2019 and are assisting on a study which focuses on the speech and respiration of transmasculine individuals. When not studying you will find Jillian on a bike; either riding around town, competing in a bike polo tournament, or bikepacking in the middle of nowhere.

HAFSA ALI

Undergraduate Student

Hafsa is a senior studying Speech and Hearing Sciences at Portland State University. Hafsa joined the SSR lab fall of 2019. She is assisting on a study focusing on the utility of airflow measure in predicting risk for aspiration in neurologic populations. In her free time she enjoys, exploring nature and hanging out with family and friends.
